A three month pregnant woman fleeing from LTTE hostage was shot and critically injured in an indiscriminate terrorist small arms fire attack at Puthumathalan, today (April 11) at around 7a.m.
The woman was among many others who were seeking protection, fleeing from LTTE hostage from the government declared 17sq.km No Fire Zone, military said.
Her fellow people have managed to bring her across the shallow waters amidst an array of small arms fire from terrorists our Wanni correspondent said adding that bullets have pierced through her chest and shoulders. “She was bleeding heavily and no doubt in critical condition”, our correspondent further said.
The woman was rushed for immediate medical treatment at the Vavuniya general hospital once she was brought at Puthukkudiyirippu. According to Vavuniya hospital sources, the woman is now undergoing surgery.
