Infantrymen of 58 Division following fierce confrontations were able to capture the LTTE sea tiger leader Soosai's camp and suicide bomb manufacturing camp located in west of Puthukkudiyiruppu 25 February.
According to the latest information received from the battlefront, following days long fighting troops of 7 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (7 SLSR) under command to 58 Division have captured the location which is believed to be used as suicide bombs, claymore mines and Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) manufacturing yard. The captured bomb manufacturing yard is located Puthukkudiyiruppu west.
In confrontations reported in general area west of Puthukkudiyiruppu, LTTE suffered heavy damages, ground troops confirmed intercepting LTTE radio communication. Four bodies of LTTE terrorists killed during the confrontation were found along with 2 x T-56 weapons, military sources added.
Bordering to the bomb manufacturing yard, another LTTE camp which is believed to be used by the LTTE sea tiger leader Soosai, totally destroyed due to accurate aerial bombing, was also captured by the troops of 10 Gajaba Regiment (10GR) and 12 GR yesterday.
Out Boat Motors and many other equipments used by the sea tigers were at the Soosai's camp, military sources added.
The Puthukkudiyiruppu town, the only remaining stronghold of the LTTE terrorists, is now imminent as troops crossed over the jungle patches and entered into the built-up areas pushing terrorists into deep Puthukkudiyiruppu built-up.
